Shooting portraits was my first love in photography. Connecting with a person, one on one, even if it’s only for a minute, is truly one of my favorite things. It’s one of the reasons why I love working with high school seniors so much. It’s just me and them for two hours of creativity and collaboration.
I realized that I missed shooting portraits while I was photographing weddings, so in the past few years I’ve started taking a bit more time during weddings and getting portraits of the bridal party. I figure that these are people who are important to my couple. They’re family. They’re friends. They’re people who they might like to have a nice portrait of. So whenever time permits, I take a few extra minutes and get good photos of each of them. I had a lot of fun going through my wedding portraits from 2013. They include brides, grooms, members of the wedding party and even a few guests. Here are a few of my favorites.
