I keep forgetting that it’s ok to stop and take a photo, even if that’s not what I set out to do. That I don’t have to drive straight home after dropping my wife off. That driving someplace is more than just getting from Point A to Point B. I have to constantly give myself permission to pull over, get out of the car and take a photo when I see something that I think is interesting or beautiful.
You hear it all the time, that life is about the journey, not the destination. Well, I couldn’t agree more. In fact, sometimes it’s worth it to have a journey with no destination. Just wander, observe, smell, listen… Tune in to what’s immediately around you and momentarily forget about what’s ahead of you.
I keep forgetting that I can randomly pull over and take a photo of a snowy tree. This morning I gave myself permission to do so.
