I had been wanting to do an engagement session like Rachel and Ken’s for a while now. Combining the beauty of the coastal forests with a sunset on the beach makes for an amazing photo shoot. Luckily, Rachel and Ken are almost as in love with California as they are with each other, so there wasn’t much question that this is where we’d end up.
We started out at Steep Ravine, a nice trail that winds its way through redwoods as it climbs higher and higher towards Mount Tam. The smell of the forest filled our noses wile we enjoyed the cool air that surrounded us. Rachel and Ken, the adventurous types that they are, were not opposed to exploring the area to find some great photo spots (of which we found many).
After we finished in the woods, we headed down to the beach for sunset. Ken proposed to Rachel a little farther north on the California coast, so I know they’re big fans of the beaches around here. They both immediately kicked off their shoes so that they could feel the sand on their feet, which is how they spent the rest of our session. We had the beach all to ourselves, so we took our time and enjoyed the sunset while taking photos.
Rachel and Ken, thanks for hiking through the trees and watching the sunset with me. I can’t wait to photograph your wedding next spring!
