I feel like if you’re going to have a themed wedding, two things have to happen to really make it work. First, you have to go all in and embrace the theme. Second, it needs to be a theme that means something to you. Beth and Patrick’s Jurassic Park themed wedding checked both boxes and turned out to be one of the most enjoyable weddings I’ve ever photographed.
They completely embraced the dinosaur theme in a tasteful yet fun way. They decorated the reception with dinosaur-everything, wore dino-slippers as their wedding shoes, their wedding rings have fossilized dinosaur bones in them, they encouraged guests to dress up as characters from the movie, had dinosaur jewelry and florals that were truly prehistoric and even worked quite a few Jurassic Park quotes into the ceremony. There was no question as to what the theme was, but their wedding didn’t feel like being at a cheesy theme park for the evening.
In a way, being at their wedding was like being at any other wedding. The theme was definitely there, but didn’t get in the way of the wedding. Beth and Patrick are two people who are perfect for each other… who just happened to be wearing fuzzy dinosaur feet. The bouquets and centerpieces were beautiful… and just happened to have little dinosaurs tucked inside of them if you looked closely. The vows were heartfelt and meaningful… and just happened to reference Jurassic Park. The guests were dressed in dinosaur costumes… ok, that was a little out of the ordinary for a wedding.
Congratulations Beth and Patrick! I hope you have a lifetime of love, happiness, and laughter.
